North Park Library. America 250 NC Stories - Franklin, the State that Almost Was. 5:30 p.m. For
adults. Explore one of North Carolina’s most intriguing historical chapters as we uncover how
western settlers briefly broke away from the newly formed United States to create the State of
Franklin. Using maps, documents, and group discussion, we’ll dive into the people, places, and
challenges behind this four-year experiment in self-governance. To register or for more
